  • The Telescope 5 Jun 1824, New York City NY.
    Daring Robbery -- The Philadelphia Gazette says that between ten o clock on Saturday night and five o'clock on Sunday morning the store of Mr Hansell, Watchmaker, on tbe south side of Market-street near Seventh, was stripped of the whole of its contents— watches, jewelry, and silver spoons to the value of belween four and five thousand dollars. To get into the store, the robbers had to break through five locks; and though one of the watchman in going his round heard them at work, he did not interrupt their labours supposing the noise to be made by some of the family.
  • He appeared on the 1850 census taken at Philadelphia PA, listed as a watchmaker.
  • He worked before 1860 as a jeweler and watchmaker in Philadelphia PA
    Listed in the 1856 Philadelphia Directory listed 236 Market Street. He retired in 1859 and directed his customers to pick up their jewelry and watches at Eli Holden's shop, whiich was next door at 238 Market.
