  • He was a partner in 1810-1818 with Samuel Davis in Boston MA as DAVIS & BROWN. They were joined in 1815 by Robert Somerby and Charles Brown, the firm name changing to DAVIS, BROWN & Co.
  • 27 Feb 1813: Had his name legally changed to Robert Johnston Brown.

    "...that Johnston Brown, of Boston aforesaid, jeweller, son of Robert Brown late of Plymouth, in the county of Plymouth, deceased, shall be allowed to take the name of Robert Johnston Brown..."
