Silversmith

  Events in his life were:

  • Flynt & Fales:, . 3 Revolutionary War soldier. Reported to have worked in Old Saybrook with David Bushnell who built the first American submarine, Turtle, which attempted to blow up a British frigate in New York Harbor in 1776. Pratt's mechanical ingenuity produced a machine for making ivory combs, for which he secured a patent. The resultant business prospered immediately and later became a large industry. He was Deacon of the Congregational Church in Saybrook.
  • Advertised in the Connecticut Gazette, 1772, a silversmith shop in Lyme for sale. 3

Phineas married Hepsibah Pratt on 17 Feb 1771 in New Haven CT. (Hepsibah Pratt was born on 4 Sep 1750 in Old Saybrook CT and died on 19 Jan 1813.)
