  General notes:

Silversmith

  Events in his life were:

  • Apprenticed in 1800 to Brazillai Davison in Norwich CT
Around the year 1802, his master took his family into the country in the face of a yellow fever epidemic. Bentley was left in charge of the inactive shop and, having fallen under the spell of the charismatic preacher, Lorenzo Dow, filled his idle time reading the Bible and theology. On his master's return, he was given his leave short of finishing his term and took up lay preaching. He later worked as a bronze founder and general metal worker to support his family. His business enjoyed considerable success and he again turned himself to religion.

David married Letitia Gardiner on 11 Aug 1805 in Norwich CT. (Letitia Gardiner was born on 13 Oct 1784 in Bozrah CT and died on 1 Nov 1853 in Norwich CT.)
